About Christian Geye

Clinical Director, Christian Geye, is a North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who utilizes a holistic approach to mental health. She understands that each person’s needs are unique, therefore she uses a variety of techniques in her therapy sessions to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.

HISTORY

Christian has spent her entire career in the service of others. She has worked as an adolescent drug and alcohol counselor, coordinated psychological research for UCLA and RTI International, as the director of domestic violence/sexual assault shelters, as a psychotherapist in military medical clinics, and as the American Red Cross’ clinical director of resiliency programming in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Christian’s experiences in these diverse environments spurred her to learn techniques and skills that offered her patients more choices for treatment. She describes herself as an eclectic psychotherapist utilizing techniques from a number of therapeutic modalities with a strong solution-focused cognitive behavioral therapy skill set. Christian is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to better meet the needs of her patients experiencing stress reactions and trauma responses. She became a Clinical Hypnotherapist (CHt) to help her patients suffering from somatic symptoms and anxiety that interferes with living life to the fullest. Christian is currently pursuing a doctorate in psychology in order to continue learning and gaining more knowledge to provide the best possible care for her patients.

Christian lives in Virginia, but provides telehealth appointments for patients in many locations across the globe. She travels in her spare time, she loves to eat and travel… mostly to eat in beautiful places. Christian is a long-time military spouse and has two adult children. She also has a currently unemployed therapy dog named Juneau that can be seen in the background of her telehealth appointments.

I am passionate about improving the lives of my patients and I want them to get better. I continue to learn and add new therapeutic skills to my toolbox so that each of my patients can be treated as individuals with all the tools at my disposal. “Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.”
